Earth Cycle Farm

Title?

 

So that just when most all of the people of the earth who had survived the flu epidemics, nuclear explosions and the nuclear winter in the Northern Hemisphere which had wiped out so many of the big capitol cities and when they  had lost all faith in their profit seeking corporations, governments and monetary systems, our beloved Queen Michelle saved us.  She spoke at the U.N. headquarters in New York City (which had miraculously escaped devastation).  She was able to direct everyone to put our positive energy into building our global network of mainly self sufficient rural communities that were governed by grand mother councils.  They were linked in a cooperative trade network and run by the last non-profit global corporation.  Thus we were able to stop climate change which would have led to a premature ice age.  We used Holistic Resource Management and Permaculture planning to

take the excess greenhouse gases out of the atmosphere and into the soil which resulted in food abundance and general health as additional benefits.

 

This is how I would begin this story, which is now more of an essay than a story:

 

Even though now I am usually content with my life here on “Smiling Acres”, my memory is seared by the terrible events of 2012.

  I was walking home from school thinking about the assignment Miss Kendle had given our 5th grade Social Studies class, when I saw the fiery ball on the horizon.  It looked like a fuzzy orange sun shaped by a man man and I knew it was something horrible.  I raced home calling out to my brother and my parents.  We rushed down to our root cellar, screaming for the neighbors to follow, but no one came.  The silence was roaring in our ears.
